Roxy came from a small breeder in Iowa (the same one that Hendo came from). Todd chose this particular breeder because of the strong blood lines of successful hunting dogs they produce and the aesthetic builds/good conformation to breed standards of their dogs. Both of Roxy's parents are Master Hunter certified through the AKC, and her pedigree is full of a long line of champion hunters and NAVHDA dogs. Todd refers to these type of dogs as "throw-back dogs" that were bread for working in the field rather than for show or just solely companionship. Roxy was born on 8/17/18.
True to her heritage, Roxy has an extremely high prey drive. Hunting is all she wants to do! She has been professionally trained for bird hunting by the nationally renowned Chris Goegan, who has owned and trained many national champion dogs. In Chris' words, Roxy is a rockstar and could easily achieve a Master Hunter Certification herself. This is the plan for her.
Although a bit high-strung and overly excitable, she is a complete angel when she calms down. She loves to get her makeup done and ChapStick put on with Mom. She is definitely the alpha dog in the pack and helps keep everyone else in line. She is an average-sized female weighing about 55 lbs but has a very aesthetic build to her. Out of all our dogs, she is the fastest and most agile as well. She is truly an athlete.
Roxy and Hendo's first litter in 2020 was full of some amazing puppies, including ones that are now successfully used in the field. The puppies had a mix of Hendo's temperament and Roxy's prey drive, giving them the best of both worlds. We kept one female from this litter, Lacy.
As her nickname implies, Lacy is our baby girl. She was the chosen one who got to stay out of Roxy and Hendo's first litter. She was born on 7/19/20. Like many of her siblings, she is a wonderful combination of both Hendo and Roxy, the "perfect storm" of both hunting potential and temperament mixed with a little bit of crazy. Spoiled rotten, she can be intentionally vengeful when she doesn't get her way and is very jealous if someone else is getting attention other than her, but in a cute way that you can't possibly be mad at her. Pretty and petite, she weighs about 50 lbs and is a beautiful liver roan slightly lighter than her dad.
